artist statement:
My artistic concept is deeply rooted in the exploration of self-identity and human nature. Having experienced a profoundly painful and struggle period in my life, I committed to seeking my self-identity through my art practice. I strive to understand what "true happiness" means for humanity and for myself. This quest is the cornerstone of my artistic journey, encompassing all my reflections and explorations.
As humans, we are often defined by the influence of the different roles we play in society. However, how people turly identity self? And what as the essence of "true happiness" concept? Each piece I create serves as a means to further clarify and contemplate these definitions.
My artistic style and creative thought process are influenced by my upbringing, which merges Eastern and Western cultures. Born in China and raised in the United States, I have been shaped by diverse societal influences. I use various artistic media, including painting, sculpture, digital art, and performance art. My artworks focus on people and the human body as the main subjects. Also as a former dancer, my exploration also encompasses the human body through dance, integrating body movement as a facet of my study.
The purpose of my art is to inspire introspection and contemplation, both within myself and in my audience. Thus, my works narrate my personal journey while inviting viewers to reflect on their own perceptions and thoughts. Through continuous exploration, I aim to define my self-identity and conceptualize "true happiness"—an understanding grounded in human nature, self-definition, and contemplation of the human essence.
